Tolkien is an up and coming anecdotal show movie coordinated by Dome Karukoski and composed by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford. It is about the English teacher, philologist, and essayist J. R. R. Tolkien, creator of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion, just as prominent scholarly works. The film stars Nicholas Hoult, Lily Collins, Colm Meaney, and Derek Jacobi.
Tolkien will be Fox Searchlight Pictures' first film to be conveyed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures following its securing by the Walt Disney Company on March 20, 2019.
On November 21, 2013, it was reported that Fox Searchlight Pictures and Chernin Entertainment were building up a true to life film about the English essayist and writer of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, J. R. R. Tolkien, in light of the screenplay by David Gleeson. On July 24, 2017, Dome Karukoski was employed to coordinate the film with the screenplay from Gleeson and Stephen Beresford, which Chernin would deliver for Fox Searchlight to deal with circulation.
The following day, Nicholas Hoult was apparently in chats with the studio as leader for the title job. On August 30, 2017, Lily Collins was cast to co-star with Hoult as Edith Tolkien, love and later spouse of Tolkien, who was additionally the motivation for Lúthien in The Silmarillion. Colm Meaney, Tom Glynn-Carney, and Genevieve O'Reilly joined the cast in October 2017. Craig Roberts joined the cast, in the next month.
